Travel guide write up for Santa Cruz, Ca
| Sitting In Santa Cruz Coffee Shop |
An old french man walks in, asks for a cappuccino and sits down with the paper. He’s a shorter man, with gray hair and a thick French accent. A woman walks up to him and says “Bonjour.” They sit down together to chat and I learn he’s an author of a Roman religious novel. A big deal I guess.
Listening to him speak, I fall in love with his words. His raspy voice and thick R’s. I’m so intrigued. I imagine he has a great life story. A story of travels and history and experiences.
I find myself listening and daydreaming about his life. These are the type of people I want to meet. He is the type of person I want to be when I am old and gray. A person with stories, life experiences and the time to spend enjoying the little things.
He sits with a cup of coffee, the newspaper and some local strawberries making conversation with the woman. Talking about his upcoming travels to Michigan to see his grandchildren.
An old French man walks into a coffee shop and forever changes a solo traveler’s heart.
